How to tie it
Seat the slotted tungsten bead at the eye and start the fluorescent orange 70 denier thread behind it. Lay a tapered thread underbody back toward the bend, a slim carrot shape that will be the silhouette of the perdigon.
Pinch-wrap a small bunch of UV2 CDL Perdigon Fire Tail fibres in as the tail. Trim the butts in front of where the collar will go so no bulk builds up there, then wrap forward and stop just shy of that point.
Tie in the Hends Perdigon Body flash and bind it back to just in front of the tail with minimal wraps. Build the fluorescent orange underbody as you go so it shows through the flash, stopping just shy of the bead since the hot spot will fill that gap, then taper back down. No bulk, only a solid base of colour.
Advance the thread to the front and take a half hitch just behind the bead. Wrap the Hends Perdigon Body forward in close turns, either on a rotary vise or by turning the hook over and handing the flash from one hand to the other. Double the flash over, since it is translucent and lays little body down.
At the front, crisscross the thread over the flash and capture it with two wraps only. Cut flush with sharp scissors: the closer the cut, the smoother the body.
Whip finish the fluorescent orange thread with minimal wraps and cut it as close as you can.
Start the fluorescent fire orange 70 denier thread behind the bead. Cut the tag back toward the bead rather than outside the hot spot so any nub is covered. Build the hot spot collar, do two whip finishes, and cut flush behind the bead.
Wipe as much Solarez Bone Dry off the brush as you can and paint a thin coat over the body to reinforce it, then cure.
Dab a small drop of Solarez Bone Dry into the bead slot, tip the vise upside down so it does not run, and cure it from below.
Wipe the excess off the brush and stroke a wing case on top behind the bead with black nail polish in a single pass. For a raised wing case, add a small dollop of medium-viscosity Solarez over the back, roll the vise so gravity settles it, cure, then hit it again with the black.
