How to tie it
Start thread and tie in a trailing shuck of copper Antron plus a few wood-duck fibers at the bend to imitate the nymphal skin the emerger is escaping.
Tie in the copper wire, then dub (or wrap pheasant tail for) a slim abdomen forward two-thirds of the shank.
Counter-rib with the copper wire in 4-5 turns and tie off.
Tie in an upright, slightly forward-leaning wing of dun poly yarn at the front of the abdomen - Quigley's signature emerger wing that keeps the abdomen hanging down in the film.
Tie in a blue dun hackle at the wing base.
Dub a gray-olive thorax around and in front of the wing.
Take 3-4 turns of hackle through the thorax, tie off, whip finish, and cement. Trim hackle flush on the bottom so the fly sits low.
