Feczko Gills Gone Wild

Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Heavy-wire saltwater hook, 4/0
  • Thread White GSP 200 denier

Materials

  • Belly White uni stretch (synthetic hair (slinky fibre/EP))
  • Sides Pearl gray sides (synthetic hair, fanned)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (lateral line each side)
  • Back Gray/tan material (synthetic topping)
  • Eyes 3D eyes (1 pair, large)

How to tie it

  1. Mount a big saltwater hook and start thread near the eye.
  2. Tie in a sparse white synthetic belly, long for a big silhouette but thin so it sheds water.
  3. Build the sides with a wide clump of pearl-gray synthetic on each side to fan out the profile.
  4. Add flash along the lateral line, then a gray or tan topping.
  5. Reverse-tie a collar at the front and fold it back to bulk the head without adding weight.
  6. Whip finish, attach large 3D eyes, and set them with UV resin.
  7. Trim the front to a blunt, water-pushing mullet head.
