Feczko Dirty Mullet

Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Heavy-wire saltwater hook, 3/0
  • Thread White GSP 200 denier

Materials

  • Belly White uni stretch (bucktail)
  • Sides/Back Gray/olive top (stacked bucktail or EP)
  • Flash Pearl/holo (lateral line each side)
  • Eyes 3D eyes (1 pair, large)
  • Head Clear head cement (UV resin/epoxy)

How to tie it

  1. Mount a heavy saltwater hook and start thread at mid-shank.
  2. Tie in a white bucktail underwing with a few strands of pearl flash, a shank-and-a-half long.
  3. Build the profile in stacked clumps, spinning bucktail collars up the shank (white on the belly, gray or olive on top) so it holds a fat mullet shape.
  4. Add a holographic lateral flash line down each side.
  5. Top with a darker olive or gray crest for the back.
  6. Whip finish a tapered head and glue a large 3D eye to each side.
  7. Coat the head with UV resin or epoxy to lock the eyes and shed water.
