Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Curved scud/nymph hook, 12
  • Thread Red 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Red bead (tungsten, sized to hook)
  • Body Red/pink worm (micro (vernille) chenille)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a red tungsten bead onto a curved scud hook and mount the hook.
  2. Start thread behind the bead and lay a base to the bend.
  3. Tie in a length of micro chenille at the bend so it overhangs half a shank as the rear worm tip.
  4. Bind the chenille along the shank to just behind the bead, letting the front overhang too.
  5. Lay a smooth thread underbody if you want a slimmer profile, or leave it plush.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead.
  7. Singe both chenille ends with a lighter to a tapered point so they won't fray.
