• Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 12
• Thread Tan 6/0

Materials

• Body Cream semperfli cashmere monkey (fine dubbing)
• Wing Mottled tan material (deer hair, swept back)
• Hackle Brown/grizzly hackle (1 feather)
• Head Tan carapace (spun deer hair, trimmed)

How to tie it

1. Mount a standard dry-fly hook and lay a thread base to the bend.
2. Dub a fat, tapered cream body over the rear two-thirds.
3. Tie in a wing of mottled tan deer hair, tips swept back over the body in a low tent reaching just past the bend.
4. Wind two or three turns of soft grizzly or brown hackle at the front of the body.
5. Spin a small bunch of deer hair at the head and pack it tight against the hackle.
6. Trim the spun hair to a fat, blunt moth head. Full on top, flat underneath so the fly sits low in the film.
7. Whip finish at the eye through the trimmed hair.
