How to tie it
Run black 70 denier thread to the back of a size 14 Togens curved nymph hook, dressing the whole shank as you go. Keep the body even rather than tapered, because the natural bloodworm is not tapered.
Tie red stretch floss in down the full length of the shank, pulling hard on it as you wrap back over it. That tension is the only way to keep a bloodworm genuinely slim.
Capture a tiny amount of 1/32 red holographic tinsel right at the very back, squash it down and cover it with even thread wraps forward.
Wrap the tinsel forward covering all the black thread and tie it off up top. Leaving a little black thread at the head gives the finished fly a small dark head.
Segment the body with open wraps of the stretch floss, letting the holographic tinsel show through between the turns. There is no set number of wraps, just keep them even.
Tie the floss off firmly, give it a good tug and trim so the excess sucks back under the thread, then whip finish four or five turns.
Coat the thread wraps or the whole fly with superglue or UV resin.
