How to tie it
Straighten the offset in the TMC 811S so the fly swims true, mount it, and dress the whole shank with thread.
Bind the Large Silver Bead Chain eyes on top just behind the eye with X wraps, then take wraps underneath, around the base, to cinch them tight.
At the bend, wind a small ball of white chenille. It splays the tail outward instead of letting it lie flat.
Bind in about three strands of Black Crystal Flash doubled over so they stand out like antennae, then add a few strands of Gold Holographic Tinsel over the top. Take a wrap or two to hold them back; they do not need to be straight.
Marry a Cree and a Grizzly hackle tip with their dull sides facing so they read as one feather, and bind the pair in on one side of the chenille ball. Repeat with a second pair on the far side. They will want to splay outward, which is the point.
Touch a small drop of thin UV resin between the hackle stems where they meet the shank and cure it, since the tail hangs on those stems alone.
Make the body brush: lay out a length of small red wire, wax it, cut White Crosscut Rabbit off the hide close to the skin, lay only the butt ends across the wire, and spin until you feel the wire shorten and the brush tighten. Take a half hitch first if the vise is not rotary.
Wrap the rabbit brush forward by hand, preening the hair back with each turn so the body stays slim but full. Bind the wire off behind the eyes with several good turns, trim, and burn off stray hairs with a torch, well clear of the thread. Figure-8 a few more turns around the bead chain.
Flatten one end of a length of 20 lb hard mono with flat pliers, bind it in on one side at 45 degrees, bring the top down to form the loop under the hook, and take wraps behind it to lock it.
Whip finish, coat the head with the thin hard UV resin, and trim the mono weed guard just below the hook point.
