Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard wet-fly / stillwater hook, 10
  • Thread Pink 140 denier

Materials

  • Tail Pink ears (5mm foam cylinder stub)
  • Underbody Opal material (medium mirage mylar)
  • Body (rear) Pink ears (FNF jelly fritz)
  • Body (front) Yellow mcflylon (FNF jelly fritz)

How to tie it

  1. Mount a #10 wet-fly hook and run thread to the bend.
  2. Slit a short pink foam cylinder shank-length and bind it in at the bend as a buoyant stub tail.
  3. Tie in opal mylar and wind a smooth underbody forward to the 80% mark.
  4. Soak a length of pink jelly fritz, strip one end, tie in, and wind the rear two-thirds of the body in tight touching turns, sweeping fibres back each wrap.
  5. Change to yellow jelly fritz for the front third to build the two-tone ham-and-cheese look, stopping a hook-eye's width short.
  6. Tie off, whip finish, and brush the fritz out to a dense blob.
