EZ Egg Flesh

Egg · Trout · Steelhead · Beginner · 1 version

Classic Recipe

  • Hook Short-shank egg/scud hook, 6-12
  • Thread Pale flesh / tan Flymaster Plus (140 denier)

Materials

  • Egg/flesh McFly Foam / egg yarn, flesh (pale peach/cream) (1 clump)
  • Optional accent Pink or apricot yarn strands (few fibers)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread and lay a base from the eye to above the point.
  2. Cut a clump of flesh-colored McFly Foam about 1.5-2 in long, lay it on top of the hook, and take a few loose midpoint wraps.
  3. Tighten with firm stacked wraps to flare the yarn into a ball; blend in a few pink strands for a mottled flesh look if desired.
  4. Stand the yarn up and take four or five tight wraps around its base.
  5. Whip finish just ahead of the yarn, then trim. For a rounder egg trim to a dome, or leave it a touch shaggier and picked out to suggest a bit of drifting flesh. Roll between the fingers to shape.
