How to tie it
Lay a black thread base. Blend red and yellow golden-pheasant hackle fibers and tie them in for a tail about one body-length long, butts trimmed even.
Tie in a length of fine gold wire for the rib.
Tie in gold/silver mylar tinsel with the silver side up so gold shows when it is wrapped; wrap the body forward in tight, slightly overlapping turns and tie off.
Counter-wrap the fine gold wire rib over the body and tie off.
Blend red and yellow golden-pheasant fibers and tie them in as a throat beneath the hook, reaching to about the hook point.
Select a bronze mallard flank slip, fold it to marry both edges, measure it, and tie it on top with soft loops so the wing sits centered (a touch off-center is fine. It makes the fly dart).
Whip finish and coat the head with bone-dry UV resin, then cure.
