  • Hook standard dry fly hook, 8-12
  • Thread Olive 8/0

Materials

  • Tail Dark dun material (3 micro-fibett fibers)
  • Body Pale yellow-olive material (dry-fly dubbing)
  • Rib Brown permanent marker (fine thread or marker bars)
  • Wing Dark dun material (2 hackle tips or deer hair)
  • Hackle Grizzly and ginger hackle (2 dry-fly hackles)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread mid-shank and tie in three splayed tail fibers one shank length long.
  2. Dub a plump pale yellow-olive body forward to the 65% mark.
  3. Mark or rib the body with fine brown bars to suggest segmentation.
  4. Tie in and post an upright divided or clumped dun wing at the 70% mark.
  5. Tie in grizzly and ginger hackles and wind them together through the thorax.
  6. Trim the hackle flat underneath if you want it to sit low, then whip finish at the eye.
