Reference Recipe
- Hook standard dry fly hook, 8-12
- Thread White 8/0
Materials
- Tail Black ostrich herl (3 moose body or micro-fibett fibers)
- Body White uni stretch (white dubbing or floss)
- Wing Grizzly hackle (2 hackle tips, spent)
- Hackle Badger hackle (1-2 dry-fly hackles)
How to tie it
- Start thread mid-shank and tie in three splayed black tail fibers, one and a half shanks long.
- Dub or wrap a slim white body forward to the 65% mark.
- Tie in two grizzly hackle tips and post them out to the sides as spent wings.
- Figure-8 thread around the wing bases to set them flat and splayed.
- Tie in one or two badger hackles at the wing and wind them fore and aft of the wing.
- Trim any stray fibers underneath so the fly rides flush, then whip finish at the eye.
