Reference Recipe

  • Hook saltwater streamer hook, 1/0-4
  • Thread Chartreuse 3/0

Materials

  • Tail Chartreuse/white material (bucktail)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (few strands Flashabou)
  • Body White uni stretch (palmered saddle hackle)
  • Shellback/Lip Chartreuse wing slip (2mm closed-cell foam strip)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread at the bend and tie in a bucktail tail about one and a half shank lengths.
  2. Add a few strands of pearl flash over the tail.
  3. Bind a foam strip at the tail with the long end pointing rearward for now.
  4. Tie in a saddle hackle and wrap thread forward to just behind the eye.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward in open turns to the eye and tie off.
  6. Pull the foam over the top and bind it down at the eye, leaving a short lip projecting past the eye.
  7. Whip finish behind the foam lip and cement the wraps.
