Reference Recipe
- Hook standard dry fly hook, 12-16
- Thread Tan 8/0
Materials
- Body Olive ostrich herl (fine dry-fly dubbing)
- Underwing Amber vinyl rib medium (few strands Antron)
- Wing Natural case (elk or deer hair)
- Hackle Ginger hackle (1 dry-fly hackle)
How to tie it
- Start thread at the 75% point and wrap a thin base back to the bend.
- Dub a slim tapered body forward to the 65% mark using half the dubbing you think.
- Tie in a sparse Antron underwing over the body, extending to the hook bend.
- Stack a clump of elk hair and bind it as a tent wing reaching just past the bend.
- Trim the elk butts to a small head and tie in a ginger hackle at the wing base.
- Palmer the hackle two or three turns through the front for flotation and tie off.
- Whip finish at the eye and add a drop of head cement to the wraps.
