Classic Recipe

  • Hook Light wire dry fly, 14-16
  • Thread Primrose 8/0

Materials

  • Tail Pale blue dun cock fibers (3-4 fibers)
  • Body Pale yellow-grey fur or synthetic dubbing (slim)
  • Wing Pale starling wing slips (1 pair)
  • Hackle Pale blue dun cock hackle (1)

How to tie it

  1. Run thread to the bend and tie in the pale tail fibers, one shank length long.
  2. Dub a slim pale body, yellowish grey, kept sparse so the silk glows through like the translucent natural.
  3. Set pale starling wing slips upright at the 75% mark.
  4. Wind the pale dun hackle 3-4 turns behind and ahead of the wing.
  5. Whip finish with a small head.
