Reference Recipe

  • Hook 60-degree jig nymph hook, 16-22
  • Thread Black 10/0

Materials

  • Bead Silver bead (slotted tungsten, 2.0-2.5mm)
  • Body Black ostrich herl (tying thread)
  • Rib Silver metal tape (fine wire)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the silver slotted bead to the eye and start black thread behind it.
  2. Bind a length of fine silver wire along the shank and wrap thread to the bend.
  3. Build a slim, smooth thread body forward to just behind the bead.
  4. Spiral the silver wire forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and helicopter off the tag.
  5. Take a couple of finishing wraps behind the bead and whip finish.
  6. Optionally coat with thin UV resin for durability.
