Reference Recipe

  • Hook 60-degree jig nymph hook, 16-20
  • Thread Black 10/0

Materials

  • Bead Silver bead (slotted tungsten, 2.0-2.5mm)
  • Butt Fluoro red mono (thread or floss)
  • Body Black ostrich herl (tying thread)
  • Rib Silver metal tape (fine wire)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the silver slotted bead to the eye and start black thread behind it.
  2. Wrap a short, bright red hot butt over the rear one-sixth of the shank.
  3. Bind a length of silver wire and build a slim, smooth black thread body forward to the bead.
  4. Spiral the silver rib forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and helicopter it off.
  5. Take a couple of finishing wraps behind the bead, then whip finish.
  6. Coat the body with thin UV resin for a durable, glossy shell.
