Reference Recipe
- Hook 60-degree jig nymph hook, 12-16
- Thread Olive 8/0
Materials
- Bead Copper bead (slotted tungsten, 3.0mm)
- Tail Coq de Leon (5-6 fibers)
- Body Olive-brown material (pheasant tail fibers)
- Rib Copper thorax stripe (fine wire)
- Wingcase Black floss (thin Thin Skin or flash)
- Thorax Olive ostrich herl (hare's ear or UV dub)
How to tie it
- Seat the slotted bead and start thread behind it.
- Tie in a sparse Coq de Leon tail one shank length long.
- Wrap dyed pheasant tail forward to the 60% mark for a slim mayfly body.
- Counter-wrap the copper rib in 5 turns and snip the tag.
- Tie in the wingcase strip pointing rearward, then dub a buggy thorax up to the bead.
- Pull the wingcase forward over the thorax, bind it behind the bead, and pick out a few fibers for legs.
- Whip finish behind the bead.
