  • Hook 60-degree jig nymph hook, 12-16
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Copper bead (slotted tungsten, 3.0mm)
  • Tag Red buzzer wrap (wool or floss)
  • Body Peacock ice dub (2-3 peacock herls)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (fine wire)
  • Collar Red-brown material (hen hackle or ice dub)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the slotted bead against the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a short red wool tag over the rear one-fifth of the shank and trim it stubby.
  3. Twist two or three peacock herls into a rope and wind the body to the 70% mark.
  4. Counter-wrap the copper rib in 5 open turns and snip the tag.
  5. Take two turns of red-brown hen hackle as a soft collar behind the bead.
  6. Sweep the fibers back and whip finish.
