Euro Hot Spot Orange

Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 60-degree jig nymph hook, 12-16
  • Thread Orange 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Copper bead (slotted tungsten, 3.0-3.5mm)
  • Tail Coq de Leon (5-6 fibers)
  • Body Pheasant tail (4-5 fibers)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (fine wire)
  • Hot spot Fluoro orange mono (tying thread collar)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the slotted bead against the eye and start orange thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a sparse Coq de Leon tail, one shank length long.
  3. Wrap pheasant tail fibers forward to the 70% mark for a slim body.
  4. Rib forward with 5 open counter-wraps of copper wire and helicopter off the tag.
  5. Build a distinct orange thread collar right behind the bead as the hot spot.
  6. Whip finish and coat the whole body in thin UV resin for a slick perdigon-style shell.
