Nymph · Midge · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 60-degree jig nymph hook, 16-20
  • Thread Black 10/0

Materials

  • Bead Silver bead (slotted tungsten, 2.0-2.5mm)
  • Body Black ostrich herl (tying thread)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (fine wire)
  • Collar Black ostrich herl (thread build-up)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the silver slotted bead to the eye and start black thread behind it.
  2. Bind a length of fine copper wire along the shank and wrap thread to the bend.
  3. Build a slim, smooth thread body forward to just behind the bead.
  4. Spiral the copper wire forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and helicopter it off.
  5. Take a few extra thread wraps behind the bead to form a small collar.
  6. Whip finish and coat the body with thin UV resin for a glossy, durable shell.
