- Hook Curved midge/scud hook, #18-#22
- Thread Dark brown 8/0
Materials
- Bead Black or copper slotted tungsten bead (1 small tungsten)
- Body Dark brown/black material (Tying thread, wrapped smooth)
- Rib Copper thorax stripe (Fine wire, 4-5 turns)
- Thorax Black/peacock ice dub (Peacock herl or dark dubbing)
How to tie it
- Slide the bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start thread behind the bead.
- Bind in the copper wire and run the thread back to the bend.
- Wrap the thread forward in smooth, slightly overlapping turns to build a slim, dark, glossy abdomen up to the 70% mark.
- Counter-wrap the copper rib forward in 4-5 open turns for a segmented shimmer and tie off.
- Build a small peacock or black dubbing thorax against the bead.
- Whip finish behind the bead.
