Reference Recipe
- Hook 2XL dry-fly/terrestrial hook, #8-#12
- Thread Tan 6/0
Materials
- Body Tan foam (2mm foam strip, over a dubbed underbody)
- Underbody Tan carapace (Coarse dubbing)
- Legs Barred yellow/brown rubber legs (2 pairs round rubber legs)
- Underwing Natural tan material (Bunch of elk hair)
- Indicator Orange/pink material (Foam or para post tuft)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread at the bend; bind the tail end of the foam strip down there.
- Dub a thin underbody forward, then pull the foam over the top and lash it down at two or three points to form segmented body sections.
- Tie in a pair of rubber legs on each side at the rear segment, splayed outward.
- Clean and stack a bunch of elk hair and bind it over the body as an underwing, tips reaching the bend.
- Fold the front of the foam back over the wing and lock it down to form a bullet head, leaving a short foam tab.
- Post a bright foam or synthetic indicator tuft on top for visibility and add a front pair of rubber legs, then whip finish under the head.
