Reference Recipe

  • Hook Long streamer hook (3XL-4XL), #4-#8
  • Thread White 6/0

Materials

  • Underbody Lead (Lead wire wraps (optional))
  • Body Pearl/silver material (Mylar tubing)
  • Wing Olive/natural/black material (1 rabbit zonker strip)
  • Throat Red buzzer wrap (Small tuft of fibers or dubbing)
  • Eyes Silver 3D eyes (1 pair adhesive eyes)
  • Head Clear head cement (Epoxy or UV resin)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and, if weighting, wrap lead over the middle third and lock it down.
  2. Slide mylar tubing over the shank, bind the rear end down at the bend, and whip a thread band there.
  3. Restart thread at the head and bind the front of the tubing down behind the eye.
  4. Tie the rabbit zonker strip in at the head, stretch it back over the body, and bind it down at the tail band with a couple of firm wraps, leaving a tail of about half a shank.
  5. Add a small red throat under the head, then build a smooth thread head and whip finish.
  6. Glue a 3D eye to each side of the head.
  7. Coat the head and eyes with epoxy or UV resin and cure.
