Epoxy Brass
Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Curved scud/nymph hook, #14-#18
- Thread Black 8/0
Materials
- Bead Gold bead (1 tungsten (optional))
- Body Brass/copper material (Fine brass wire, wrapped full)
- Thorax Peacock ice dub (1-2 herls or dark dubbing)
- Coating Clear head cement (UV resin over the body)
How to tie it
- Slide the gold bead to the eye (or skip it for an unweighted version), mount the hook, and start thread at the bend.
- Bind the end of the brass wire at the bend, then run the thread forward to the 70% mark.
- Wrap the brass wire in tight, touching turns forward to the thread, building a slim, segmented metallic body, and tie it off.
- Twist a peacock herl into a short thorax against the bead.
- Whip finish behind the bead.
- Coat the wire body with a thin layer of UV resin and cure it to seal the abrasion-proof shell.
