Classic Recipe

  • Hook Standard nymph, 16-18
  • Thread Yellow-brown 8/0

Materials

  • Tail PT fibers (3)
  • Body PMD yellow-olive dubbing (slim)
  • Rib Wire (fine)
  • Wingcase Turkey + epoxy dome (shiny)
  • Legs Hen (sparse)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the nymph hook and run yellow-brown thread to the bend.
  2. Tie in 3 pheasant tail fibers as a short tail, then catch in fine wire for the rib.
  3. Dub a slim PMD yellow-olive body forward over the rear two-thirds and tie off.
  4. Spiral the wire forward in 5-6 even turns and secure.
  5. Tie in a turkey slip for the wingcase, then dub a small thorax up to behind the eye.
  6. Tie in sparse hen fibers each side as legs, then pull the turkey wingcase over the thorax and bind down.
  7. Coat the wingcase with a dome of epoxy or UV resin, cure it glossy, whip finish and varnish.
