How to tie it
Set an Ahrex FW550 jig hook with a chartreuse slotted bead and start black thread. Electric purple against chartreuse is the whole name, EPC, and the contrast is what fish pick out in stained water.
Tie in purple wire at the rear first, then purple marabou. The rib always goes in before the body material so you are not hunting for it later.
Twist the marabou into a rope and wind it forward up the shank. Twisting makes the fibres radiate rather than lie flat, which is where the pulse comes from on a slow retrieve.
Tie the marabou off, trim, then wiggle the purple wire forward through the body. You will trap a few fibres. It is not worth fussing over, the rib is there for durability.
Spin a dubbing loop of purple Ice Dub and wrap a deliberately sparse collar with the longer fibres, so it veils back over the body rather than forming a solid head. A sparse veil looks alive; a dense one looks like a bead of dubbing.
Tie off, whip finish and give the whole fly a brush. Hang it under an indicator over a drop-off and hold on.
