EP Shrimp

Shrimp · Bonefish · Redfish · Sea Trout · Snook · Permit · Tarpon · Intermediate · 1 version

Classic Recipe

  • Hook Saltwater hook, 4-8
  • Thread Tan or pink 6/0

Materials

  • Body EP Fibers (tan and pink)
  • Eyes Mono eyes (1 pair)
  • Antennae Krystal Flash (2 strands)
  • Legs EP Fibers (trimmed short)
  • Weight Lead eyes or bead chain (to ride hook-up)

How to tie it

  1. Mount hook, tie in bead chain or lead eyes for a point-up ride.
  2. At the bend, tie in burned mono eyes and two Krystal Flash antennae. The shrimp's head is at the hook bend.
  3. Build the body in layered clumps of tan and pink EP Fibers, brushing out as you go.
  4. Trim the underside fibers short to suggest legs; taper the profile from full head to slim tail.
  5. Whip finish at the hook eye.

Substitutions

  • Body instead of EP Fibers: EP Silky Fibers — Finer, more translucent; Craft fur — Budget option, still good; Pseudo Hair — Similar synthetic result
  • Eyes instead of Mono eyes: Bead chain (small) — Adds slight weight; Melted mono (DIY) — Free and customizable
  • Weight instead of Lead eyes or bead chain: Small tungsten eyes — Heaviest for faster sink; Bead chain — Lighter for skinny water
