Eyes (weight) Lead dumbbell, size to depth (1 pair)
Crab eyes Black mono eyes (1 pair)
Claws Tan EP Fibers or marabou tips, barred (2 clumps)
Body Tan/olive EP Fibers (5-7 clumps)
Legs Barred Sili legs (3 pairs)
Egg spot (optional) Orange EP or dubbing (1 pinch)
How to tie it
Lash lead dumbbell eyes on top of the shank just behind the hook eye. The fly rides point-up and dives nose-first like a crab bolting for the bottom.
At the bend, tie in the mono crab eyes and two clumps of barred EP Fibers or marabou splayed outward as claws.
Tie in clumps of EP Fibers cross-wise along the shank with tight figure-eight wraps, pushing each clump back against the last, until you reach the dumbbell eyes.
Add a pair of barred Sili Legs between clumps at three evenly spaced points.
Whip finish in front of the dumbbell, then trim the EP Fibers into a flat oval disc (wide across, thin top-to-bottom) leaving claws and legs full length.
Optionally dab an orange egg spot under the body and add a drop of resin at the tie-off.
