Hook Mustad C52S tying shank (front hook clipped off after tying), 2
Thread Black 6/0 Nano Silk
Materials
Stinger hook n/a (Gamakatsu 02009 size 2)
Monofilament Clear weed guard (20 lb test, a few inches)
Egg bead Pink egg bead (One 10 mm)
Silly legs Purple / hot pink rubber legs (About 7)
Plush chenille Floral red (15 mm, two short sections)
Marabou Purple marabou (1 feather)
Marabou Shrimp pink (1 feather)
How to tie it
Start the black thread on the front hook and lay a short base over the middle of the shank, ready to take the stinger loop.
Tie a length of 20 lb mono to the eye of the Gamakatsu stinger hook with a clinch knot and trim the tag. Slide the 10 mm pink egg bead onto the mono so it sits behind the tying shank and just ahead of the stinger.
Lay the mono along the shank and bind it down, wrapping back, forward, and doubling back over itself so the loop is locked and the stinger rides point up. Set the loop length so the bead sits right off the back of the shank. Trim the excess mono.
Tie in a length of floral red plush chenille right at the bend and take just three turns to build a small ball, then tie off and trim. That ball is what will kick the legs out.
Tie in about seven silly legs directly in front of the ball, distributing them evenly down both sides so the tips reach just past the bend of the stinger hook.
Tie in more plush chenille just ahead of the legs and wrap forward to the 50% point, stroking the fibres rearward after each turn so the body stays full and open. Tie off and trim.
Tie a purple marabou feather in by the tip immediately in front of the body, grip the tip with hackle pliers and wrap it forward as a collar to about the 75% point, stroking the fibres back as you go. Tie off and trim.
Wet your fingers, sweep the purple back out of the way, then tie in and wrap a shrimp pink marabou feather the same way for the second collar, again pulling the fibres back with each turn.
Hold all the material back, build a neat black head, whip finish and add head cement if you want the extra durability.
