- Hook Wet-fly/soft-hackle hook, #12-#16
- Thread Brown 8/0
Materials
- Shuck/Tail Amber vinyl rib medium (Sparse Antron wisp (optional))
- Abdomen Hare's ear brown (Rough dubbing)
- Rib Fine gold (Wire, 4-5 turns)
- Thorax Peacock ice dub (1-2 herls)
- Hackle Brown partridge (1 soft feather, 1-2 turns)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread at the bend.
- Tie in a short, sparse amber shuck, then bind in the gold wire.
- Dub a tapered hare's ear abdomen forward to the 65% mark.
- Counter-wrap the wire in 4-5 open turns and tie off.
- Twist a peacock herl or two into a short thorax against the wire tie-off.
- Tie in a partridge feather by the tip and take one or two soft turns as a swept-back collar, then whip finish at the eye.
