Classic Recipe
- Hook wet-fly / emerger hook, 16-20
- Thread olive or brown 8/0 8/0 (70 denier)
Materials
- Tail (optional) Wood-duck or brown hackle fibers (few fibers)
- Rib Fine gold wire (optional) (6 in)
- Body Olive dubbing or olive pheasant tail (pinch)
- Thorax Olive-brown dubbing (pinch)
- Hackle Brown partridge or dun hen (1 feather)
How to tie it
- Optionally tie in a few wood-duck fibers as a short tail at the bend.
- Tie in a fine wire rib and dub a slim olive body two-thirds up the shank (or wrap olive PT).
- Counter-rib with the wire in 4-5 turns for durability, then tie off.
- Dub a small olive-brown thorax at the front.
- Tie in a soft partridge or hen hackle and take 2-3 turns as a collar, then sweep the fibers back so they pulse and imitate emerging legs/wings.
- Build a small head and whip finish.
