  • Hook Curved emerger/scud hook, #14-#18
  • Thread Pale yellow 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (1 small tungsten)
  • Shuck Amber/brown material (Sparse Z-lon)
  • Abdomen Pale yellow-olive material (PMD dubbing)
  • Rib Fine copper (Wire, 4 turns)
  • Thorax Amber vinyl rib medium (Dubbing, plump)
  • Wing bud Light dun wing bud (CDC tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in a sparse amber shuck about half a shank long.
  3. Bind in the copper wire, then dub a slim pale yellow-olive abdomen to the 60% mark.
  4. Counter-wrap the rib in 4 open turns and tie off.
  5. Tie in a short light-dun CDC wing bud over the bead.
  6. Dub a plump amber thorax around the wing base up to the bead and whip finish.
