Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (1 small tungsten)
  • Shuck Tan carapace (Sparse Z-lon)
  • Abdomen Speckled gray-tan material (Callibaetis dubbing)
  • Rib Fine gold (Wire, 4 turns)
  • Thorax Gray-tan material (Dubbing, plump)
  • Wing bud Dun/grizzly wing bud (CDC or hen tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in a sparse tan shuck about half a shank long.
  3. Bind in the wire, then dub a slim speckled gray-tan abdomen to the 60% mark.
  4. Counter-wrap the rib in 4 open turns and tie off.
  5. Tie in a short mottled CDC wing bud over the bead.
  6. Dub a plump gray-tan thorax around the wing base up to the bead and whip finish.
