  • Hook Curved emerger/scud hook, #14-#18

Materials

  • Bead Black bead (1 small tungsten)
  • Shuck Amber/gray material (Sparse Antron or Z-lon)
  • Abdomen Adams gray (Muskrat/gray dubbing)
  • Rib Fine gold (Wire, 4 turns)
  • Thorax Gray flotation (Dubbing, built plump)
  • Wing bud Dun microfibetts (CDC or Antron tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the black bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in a sparse trailing shuck about half a shank long to suggest the shed nymphal skin.
  3. Bind in the gold wire, then dub a slim gray abdomen forward to the 60% mark.
  4. Counter-wrap the rib in 4 open turns and tie off.
  5. Tie in a short dun CDC or Antron wing bud pointing forward over the bead.
  6. Dub a plump gray thorax around the wing base and up to the bead, then whip finish behind the bead.
