How to tie it
Hold the Metallic Tape along the shank with its end even with the hook point and mark where the thread should start. Start the Semperfli Nano Silk 18/0 white at the mark and trim the tag.
Comb out a section of White Polar Fiber, trim it close to the base, fold the fibers together, and comb out the short fibers. Secure it on top from the mark back to the hook point with smooth wraps and return the thread to the mark. Add a small section of Pearl Ice Dub Shimmer Fringe the same way with both ends even. Trim the butts flush, build up the thread, whip finish, trim, and coat with thin head cement.
Trim a section of Metallic Tape, peel the backing and fold it over the thread area on the underside of the hook, reversed so the belly sits opposite the point. Trim it to a belly shape with straight and curved scissors.
Slide the Medium Pearl Mylar Tubing over the tape. Restart the thread, secure the rear of the mylar, whip finish and trim. Stretch the front of the mylar over the tape, secure, trim the excess and build up the thread.
Secure the Silver 3mm 3D eyes on their monofilament from underneath the hook, in front of the mylar, with figure-8 wraps. Head cement the eyes and the rear wrap.
Add White Polar Fiber on top behind the eyes, splitting the fibers evenly, with tips slightly longer than the flash. Add White Polar Fiber underneath with tips even with the end of the mylar. Add another clump of Pearl Ice Dub Shimmer Fringe on top, slightly longer. Trim the excess around the eyes flush, build up the thread and cement.
Split the thread, wax both sides, lay in a small loose clump of blue Ice Dub, twist it closed and spin. Brush it out, wrap it behind and between the eyes with hackle pliers, secure in front of the eyes, brush out, and pull the blue dubbing up away from the belly toward the top.
Add White Polar Fiber underneath in front of the eyes, slightly shorter than the previous wing for taper. Secure Blue Polar Fiber on top in front of the eyes, slightly longer than the previous wing. Build up the thread, whip finish and trim.
Restart the same thread behind the eyes and take a dozen wraps over all the fibers, top, bottom and sides, to form a collar; trim the tag and whip finish. Secure two strands of Pearl Crinkle Flash along each side of the wing, trimmed shorter than the main wing and even with each other; whip finish. Wrap red thread over the white collar, whip finish, trim, and cement the wraps around the eyes.
Switch to Semperfli Nano Silk 24/0 white. Add Pearl Ice Dub Shimmer Fringe on top of the blue polar fiber with tips even with it. Split the thread, wax, add Pearl Ice Dub loosely, spin, brush out, and wrap it tight in front of the eyes edge to edge going forward. Secure, trim, build up the thread and brush out.
Add Charcoal Grey Polar Fiber on top slightly longer than the previous wing, then White Polar Fiber underneath slightly shorter. Add four strands of Peacock Herl on top the same length as the grey. Flatten the stems of two light Grizzly Hackle Tips and secure one along each side of the grey polar fiber, slightly shorter.
Trim the excess on a taper, build up the head, whip finish, trim and add head cement.
