How to tie it
Mount a size 6 3XL curved-shank hook and lay a base of yellow 140 denier thread back around the bend.
Tie in the white cactus chenille at the rear and take the thread forward to about the two-thirds point.
Fluff the chenille out and wrap it forward in touching turns, refluffing the fibers every couple of turns so the body stays full, and tie it off with two or three tight wraps at the two-thirds point.
Select two matched chartreuse-dyed hen teardrop feathers and tie one down each side, angled up and back so they tent over the body rather than standing straight up as a single wing. Use medium wraps first so you can adjust, then lock them with tighter wraps going forward and snip the stems.
Tie in the long yellow grizzly soft hackle perpendicular to the shank, take two or three wraps with hackle pliers stroking the fibers back, and tie it off for a long swept-back collar.
Pull the yellow fibers back, then tie in and wrap the chartreuse grizzly soft hackle the same way in front of it and tie off.
Take several thread wraps back through the collar to sweep the fibers rearward and smooth the tie-in area.
Tie in the medium yellow chenille and wrap a full chenille head up to behind the eye, laying the hackle fibers back as you go.
Tie off, build a small thread head at the eye and whip finish.
