  • Hook Curved caddis/scud nymph hook, #12-#16
  • Thread Olive 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (1 tungsten, sized to hook)
  • Body Bright chartreuse/green material (Pearl-cored tinsel or diamond braid)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (Fine wire, 4-5 turns)
  • Thorax Peacock/black flex floss (Peacock herl or dark dubbing)
  • Legs Brown silly legs nymph size (Partridge or hen fibers)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold bead to the hook eye, mount the hook, and start thread behind the bead.
  2. Bind in the copper wire at the 30% mark and let it hang at the bend.
  3. Wrap the bright green body material forward around the bend and up to the 70% mark, forming a slim, glowing caddis-larva abdomen.
  4. Counter-wrap the copper rib forward in 4-5 open turns and tie off, so it locks the body against abrasion.
  5. Build a short peacock or dark dubbing thorax against the bead.
  6. Sweep a small bunch of partridge fibers under the thorax as legs, length just past the hook point, then whip finish behind the bead.
