Zonker rabbit strip (wing) Black rabbit strip (One strip over the top)
UV resin (Solarez) Clear uv resin (Over the head)
How to tie it
Mount a size 1 heavy steelhead hook and run a base of black 3/0 thread back to the rear of the shank.
Tie a very small tuft of orange Crystal Antron in at the rear as a compact egg. Keep it small so it does not overpower the pattern.
Tie in the medium gold oval tinsel at the rear for the counter-wrap and park it out of the way.
Tie in the purple mirror tinsel body material (it is stiff and thick, which is why the heavy thread helps) and wrap it forward in overlapping turns to build a bright, solid body. Tie off and trim.
Strip the marabou fluff off a webby black Chinese saddle hackle, tie it in at the front perpendicular to the shank, then palmer it back to the rear in wide open turns, stroking the fibers back as you go.
Counter-wrap the gold oval tinsel forward through the palmered hackle in wide turns, locking the feather in and adding an accent rib. Tie off at the front.
Tie in about four strands of the black/purple flash blend as an underwing, folding it back over itself and setting the ends at slightly uneven lengths for a tapered profile.
Strip the barbs off one side of a large-dotted guinea feather, cut the tip off, tie it in and wrap a collar, then fold the fibers back with the bulk of them under the fly.
Lay a black zonker strip over the top and lash it down through the hide with hard thread pressure, setting the tail length so it tapers off the back cleanly.
Whip finish at the head and coat the head with Solarez for durability.
