Materials
Trailing shuck Brown/amber Zelon or Antron (few fibers)
Abdomen Olive-brown Superfine dubbing or thread (pinch)
Thorax Olive-grey Superfine dubbing (pinch)
Wing/emerging wing Natural dun CDC (1-2 feathers)
How to tie it
Start thread and tie in a sparse trailing shuck of brown/amber Zelon at the bend, about half a shank long, to suggest the shed nymphal skin.
Dub a slim, tapered olive-brown abdomen forward over the rear two-thirds around the hook curve.
Tie in one or two natural dun CDC feathers by the tips and take a couple of turns, then sweep the fibers forward and bind them down to form a low emerging wing/hackle over the thorax.
Dub a small olive-grey thorax to fill in behind the eye and set the CDC wing.
Whip finish behind the eye and add a tiny drop of cement. Keep everything sparse so the fly hangs in the film like a cripple.
