Eggstacy-Beadhead

Nymph · Trout · Steelhead · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Scud/curved or standard nymph hook, #10-#16
  • Thread Orange or pink 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead Gold or orange tungsten bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Body Eggstacy / Eggstasy chenille (UV egg yarn), orange or peach (1 length)
  • Hotspot (optional) Red egg yarn (Tiny tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start thread; run a thin base to the bend.
  2. Tie in the Eggstacy chenille at the bend by its core, keeping the fine fibers swept back.
  3. Wet your fingers and stroke the fibers rearward, then wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the bead so the fuzz stands out.
  4. Tie off the core and trim, leaving the fibers full and mobile.
  5. For a hotspot, bind a tiny red tuft behind the bead.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and, if needed, trim the body to a tapered egg-blob shape.
