Reference Recipe

  • Hook Egg/scud (curved) hook, #8-#14
  • Thread Orange or red 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead (optional) Gold tungsten bead (1)
  • Body McFly Foam / egg yarn, two shades (e.g., orange + peach) (2 clumps)
  • Veil/Hotspot Contrasting egg yarn, red or chartreuse (Tiny tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Optionally slide a bead on, mount the egg hook, and start thread at the midpoint.
  2. Lay the first egg-yarn clump across the top of the shank and bind it with tight wraps so it flares.
  3. Stack a second clump of a contrasting shade over the first and bind at the same point for a two-tone egg.
  4. Add a tiny veil of hotspot yarn on one side and pinch it down.
  5. Gather all the yarn upright, whip finish, and clip the thread.
  6. Trim the bunch into a tight round egg with a slightly mottled two-tone look.
