Reference Recipe
- Hook Egg/scud (curved) hook or short-shank wide-gape, #8-#16
- Thread Red or clear mono 6/0
Materials
- Body Egg yarn/McFly Foam, orange or peach (1-2 clumps)
- Hotspot (optional) Red or chartreuse egg yarn (Tiny tuft)
How to tie it
- Mount the egg hook and start thread at the midpoint of the shank.
- Lay a clump of egg yarn across the top of the hook and secure it with several tight wraps so it flares up and down.
- Add a second clump if needed to build a round profile, binding at the same point.
- For a hotspot, add a tiny tuft of contrasting egg yarn to one side and bind it in.
- Gather all the yarn upright, whip finish at the midpoint, and clip the thread.
- Trim the bunched yarn into a tight round egg shape with sharp scissors.
