Egg Sucking Squiggly-Beadhead

Nymph · Trout · Steelhead · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Scud/curved or standard nymph hook, #8-#14
  • Thread Red 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead Hot orange or gold tungsten bead (1)
  • Body Squirmy/squiggly worm material, red or wine (1 length)
  • Underbody Red thread or ice dub (Thin)
  • Egg hotspot Hot orange ice dub (Pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start thread; build a thin thread base along the shank.
  2. Center a length of squiggly worm material on top of the shank and bind it down with figure-8 wraps so both ends wag free.
  3. Anchor the worm with a drop of superglue over the thread wraps so it never pulls out.
  4. Dub a thin body up toward the bead if a fuller profile is wanted.
  5. Dub a hot orange egg hotspot right behind the bead.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and trim the worm ends to length.
