Reference Recipe

  • Hook Plastic/metal tube, trailing hook, Tube (fished with #2-#6 trailing hook)
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Tube Plastic or metal, black (1)
  • Tail Black or purple marabou (1-2 plumes)
  • Flash Krystal Flash, purple/pearl (Few strands)
  • Body Black chenille or cactus chenille (1 length)
  • Hackle Black schlappen or marabou, palmered (1 feather)
  • Egg head Hot orange/pink chenille or ice dub (Short length)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the tube on a tube tool or needle and start thread at the rear of the tube.
  2. Tie in a full marabou tail about one-and-a-half tube lengths long, then add flash over it.
  3. Bind in the body chenille and a schlappen hackle at the rear.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward to the front, then palmer the hackle through it in 4-5 open turns and tie off.
  5. Wrap a hot orange egg head at the front of the tube as the trigger.
  6. Whip finish, add a drop of cement, and slide the trailing hook into the rear of the tube.
