Egg Sucking Crystal Leech

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Streamer hook (3XL), barbless, #4-#10
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Bead (optional) Gold or black tungsten bead (1)
  • Tail Black or purple marabou (1 plume)
  • Flash Krystal Flash, pearl/purple (Few strands)
  • Body Black/purple crystal chenille (Estaz) (1 length)
  • Egg head Hot orange/pink chenille or egg yarn (Short length)

How to tie it

  1. Optionally slide a bead on, mount the streamer hook, and start thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail about one shank length long, then add a few strands of Krystal Flash over it.
  3. Bind in the crystal chenille at the bend.
  4. Wrap the crystal chenille forward in touching turns to the 75% mark and tie off.
  5. Tie in the hot orange chenille and take 2-3 turns as a bright egg head behind the eye.
  6. Whip finish and pick out any trapped fibers so the body sparkles.
