Reference Recipe

  • Hook Streamer hook (3XL-4XL), barbless, #2-#8
  • Thread Black 6/0 or 140 denier

Materials

  • Weight (optional) Lead dumbbell or cone, black (1)
  • Tail/Body Black or purple rabbit zonker strip (1 strip)
  • Flash Krystal Flash, pearl/purple (Few strands)
  • Collar Black schlappen or marabou (1 feather)
  • Egg head Hot orange/pink chenille or ice dub (Short length)

How to tie it

  1. Optionally lash a dumbbell near the eye, mount the streamer hook, and start thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in the rabbit zonker at the bend so the fur tail extends about one-and-a-half shank lengths past the hook.
  3. Add a few strands of flash along the tail.
  4. Spiral the front of the zonker strip forward as a palmered body to just behind the eye and tie off, stroking the fur back with each turn.
  5. Wrap a schlappen collar and sweep it back.
  6. Wrap a hot orange egg head at the front as the trigger, whip finish, and add a drop of cement.
