Egg Lace Worm
Salmon/Steelhead · Steelhead · Salmon · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Scud/curved hook, #10-#14
- Thread Red 70 denier
Materials
- Bead (optional) Gold or orange tungsten bead (1)
- Body Larva Lace / D-rib, red or wine (1 strand)
- Underbody Red thread or pearl tinsel (As needed)
- Egg/Hotspot Orange or peach egg yarn (Small tuft)
How to tie it
- Optionally slide a bead to the eye, mount the scud hook, and start thread; wrap a smooth thread underbody down to the bend.
- Tie in the larva lace at the bend, leaving a short tag trailing as the worm's tail.
- Wrap the larva lace forward in touching turns to the 75% mark to build a translucent segmented body, then tie off.
- Tie in a small tuft of egg yarn just behind the bead or eye as the egg head.
- Bunch the egg yarn upright, whip finish, and trim it into a tight round egg.
- Nick the trailing lace tag to length so a short soft tail remains.
