  • Hook Jig streamer hook (60-degree), barbless, #8-#12
  • Thread Black 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead Black slotted tungsten (1, sized to hook)
  • Weight Lead-free wire, .020 (8-10 turns)
  • Tail/Body Black squirrel zonker strip (1 strip)
  • Belly Ripple ice dub, black (Pinch)
  • Collar Black hen back / soft hackle (1 feather)
  • Head Black Simi Seal dubbing (Dubbing loop)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the black bead to the eye, mount the jig hook, and wrap 8-10 turns of lead into the back of the bead; start thread.
  2. Tie in the black squirrel zonker at the bend so the fur tail extends about one shank length past the hook.
  3. Dub a sparse black ripple-ice-dub belly along the underside.
  4. Wrap the squirrel zonker forward as a body to just behind the bead and tie off.
  5. Tie in the black hen feather by the tip and take two turns as a swept-back leg collar.
  6. Spin black Simi Seal in a dubbing loop, wrap a shaggy head behind the bead, whip finish, and pick out the fibers.
